I imagined  made up cholas and chachas dancing in the Lincoln Mini-Mall, Bollywood style. Afterall, the Indian women on the screen didn&#8217;t look all that much different from the Latina women in my neighborhood. I asked around to see if some film student would be up for the idea, but no luck.<br \/>\nThis video for Nimbooda (Hindi for Little Lemon) is one of my all-time favorite Bollywood scenes. The costumes are beautiful, the choreography amazing and the song extremely catchy. It features Aishwarya Rai, considered by many to be the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/stories\/2004\/12\/29\/60minutes\/main663862.shtml\">world&#8217;s most beautiful woman<\/a> (too bad she wears blue contact lenses) and is from the excellent film &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hum_Dil_De_Chuke_Sanam\">Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.<\/a>&#8216; It&#8217;s the usual Bollywood story of forbidden and unrequited love, deliciously enjoyable and equally frustrating!<\/p>\n<p><a href='https:\/\/chimatli.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/humdilchuke.jpg' title='humdilchuke.jpg'><img src='https:\/\/chimatli.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/humdilchuke.thumbnail.jpg' alt='humdilchuke.jpg' \/><\/a><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Another Bollywood favorite from the movie <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Asoka_(film)\">Asoka<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"480\" height=\"295\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/gBwSD6sADIQ&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/gBwSD6sADIQ&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"480\" height=\"295\"><\/embed><\/object><br \/>\n<strong>Aa Tayaar Hoja <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My favorite Bollywood movie description from a DVD box in Little India:<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;Will their timeless love survive the test of time? Only time will tell&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Other Bollywood movies you might enjoy:<br \/>\n<strong>Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge<\/strong> (great music and dance sequences)<br \/>\n<strong>Devdas<\/strong> (very popular film, super high budget, big stars)<br \/>\n<strong>Lagaan<\/strong> (same as above with anti-colonial message)<\/p>\n<p>Not a Bollywood film but it has beautiful singing, dancing and more interesting, strong, tough women (they&#8217;re prostitutes):<br \/>\n<strong>Mandi<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href='https:\/\/chimatli.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/mandi.jpg' title='mandi.jpg'><img src='https:\/\/chimatli.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/mandi.thumbnail.jpg' alt='mandi.jpg' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Check out these films and in no time you&#8217;ll want to learn Hindi and start your own living room dance numbers.
